Zhe Zhang is a postdoctoral fellow at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University. He is a political geographer with research interests in geo-setting—a situational approach to understanding geopolitical processes and practices—, China’s border geopolitical economy, and geographical thought. “I am deeply honored to receive the Start-Up Grant. This support is not merely financial but represents a vital endorsement of my research’s potential at this critical early stage. It fuels my confidence and provides the essential resources to build a solid foundation for my academic journey, which focuses on the Hunchun City-region governance in the China-North Korea-Russia borderland.”
