Muhammad Abdulaziz Muhammad, PhD, is an early-career researcher now in the Department of Business Education at Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies (KASCEPS), Nigeria. His research interests include development economics, regional development, health economics, poverty and inequality, and the socioeconomic dimensions of conflict and vulnerability. His work seeks to generate evidence that informs public policy, advances sustainable development, and improves household well-being in vulnerable communities.
He is the recipient of the Regional Studies Association (RSA) Start-Up Grant 2026 for his project, “Assessing Well-Being in Conflict Zones: A Twitter/X-Based Analysis from Nigeria.” The research explores the use of social media data and sentiment analysis to examine expressions of well-being in conflict-affected Nigerian communities. By investigating the potential and limitations of digital data as a complement to conventional socioeconomic indicators, the project aims to contribute to regional studies, conflict-sensitive well-being assessment, and evidence-informed policy responses to insecurity and regional vulnerability.
