Dogbahgen Alphonso Yarseah is a Liberian researcher and PhD candidate in Counselling Psychology at Ekiti State University, Nigeria. His research interests include Indigenous languages, cultural identity, displacement, and the experiences of displaced communities. He brings more than 20 years of humanitarian experience supporting Liberian and Sierra Leonean refugee communities across West Africa.
Supported by a Regional Studies Association Start-Up Grant, his project, Reclaiming the Vai Script: Language, Identity, and Digital Inclusion in Liberia, explores opportunities to strengthen the documentation and preservation of the Vai writing system and expand its accessibility and use in digital environments. The project connects Indigenous linguistic heritage with questions of cultural identity and digital inclusion in Liberia.
He is grateful to the Regional Studies Association for its support and the opportunity to advance research on Indigenous linguistic heritage and digital inclusion in Liberia.
