We are currently advertising a PhD position (E13, 100%, 5 years) at the Department of Economics at BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg, embedded in the interdisciplinary research cluster “Revitalisation of Regional Innovation Systems” at the recently started project Centre for Structural Change and Regional Development (ZeStuR).
The position is particularly suited for candidates interested in economic geography / geographical political economy approaches and who would like to work on regional transformation, path development, and the political economy of innovation. While BTU does not have a standalone geography department, the Department of Economics is very open to geographers and the PhD project can be clearly anchored in economic-geographical debates within an interdisciplinary environment.
Knowledge of German is a (very) nice to have, but not an absolute must – depending on the research interest.
Deadline: 5 March 2026
