Three-year postdoctoral position available in the Cultural and Political Geography research group from October 1st 2026.
Although a successful candidate would ideally have interests that align with abroad research focus on governance, control and bordering practices, the position is open to anyone who broadly orientates themselves within cultural and/or political geography. As part of the application, candidates should be prepared to briefly outline preliminary ideas for an independent research project of their choosing.
As a requirement of the federal state funding that supports this position, the role requires 4 teaching hours per week per semester. For this reason, Trier has a present working policy during term-time. Teaching is already assigned at both Masters and Bachelors level in our BSc Geographie (richtung Humangeographie)/BA Tourismus Geographie and MA Contemporary Human Geography programmes and therefore the capacity to teach in both German and English from the start of the contract is essential.
