Current research: I look at the interface between rural, peripheral economic development, heritage, environments, skills, and local governance. Current and recent work includes working with local government to understand what nature recovery can bring to peripheral economies (NaRRed), and working with industry and local government about green skills development in rural areas (Critical Minerals). In my forthcoming book More than Human Politics, under contract with Bloomsbury Academic, I explore these topics at a deeper conceptual level, using the new materialisms to consider the entangled relationships between our ecologies, geologies, geographies, histories, communities, economies, polities, and identities.
