Date and Time
This event is the public unveiling of the RSA’s strategy for 2026-30, ‘Shaping regional development, mobilising regional research’. It is an opportunity to hear from the leadership of the RSA, and to post comments and pose questions about RSA strategy.
There has arguably never been a more important moment for the Association to promote the importance of regions and regional research. Given the multiple challenges to the wellbeing of people living in different regions across the world, the availability and use of research evidence to enable the sustainable development of regions is of growing importance politically, socially, economically and environmentally. At the same time, faced with challenges to academic freedoms and funding, regional researchers increasingly look to organisations like the RSA to provide leadership, advocacy, community and support.
The 2026-30 RSA strategic plan therefore revisits, reinforces and clarifies what the Association stands for 60 years since it was founded. This event will unpack how the strategy was devised, explain its key principles and set out how the strategy will be implemented, and how RSA members can contribute to the work ahead.
