Wander Demuynck is a PhD researcher in regional and urban studies at the Public Governance Institute, KU Leuven, Belgium, and at the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. His doctoral research focuses on ‘interplaces’ — peri-urban areas and towns within metropolitan regions — and on how economic, political, and cultural processes of metropolisation unevenly intersect across these places. His previous research examined polycentric urban regions in Europe and China, as well as municipal amalgamations and finance in Flanders. He currently serves as PhD Representative on the RSA Board.
