Mark Scott is Professor of Planning at University College Dublin. Mark’s research is focused on theories and practices of spatial planning and governance, specifically related to rural planning, local regeneration and the environmental dimensions of spatial planning. He has published extensively in these areas and co-edited the recently published Rural Planning & Development (Routledge, 2017). He has been awarded over €4 million in national and European research funds and has worked as a consultant or advisor on spatial planning to local, regional and national governments and to international organisations such as the OECD. He has held visiting positions in the Università di Pisa and the University of New South Wales and is a former editor of the international journal, Planning Theory & Practice, and currently serves on the journal’s editorial board.
