Dr. Lea Müller-Funk (Senior researcher (Elise Richter Fellow)) is looking for a qualitative postdoc (3 years, 100%) to join her ERC project RESTATE (Refugees’ Political Participation and State-(Re)Making in Displacement) as the main focus (85%) and my FWF project SYREALITY (Syrian Imaginations of Europe meet Reality) to a lesser extent (15%) starting preferably on 1 January 2026. The postdoc is based at the Department for Migration and Globalisation, Danube University Krems.
The position involves research on refugees’ (im)mobilities, political agency and changing perceptions of the state.
The postdoc will co-lead the qualitative data collection of the ERC project fieldwork periods in Istanbul, Berlin, and Adjumani and contribute to the analysis of both projects.
She is ideally looking for someone with a research focus on political participation, refugees’ (im)mobilities, and/or agency, strong qualitative skills, prior knowledge about the Afghan context and Dari or Farsi language skills.
