We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Policy to join a research project on residential clean energy technologies and energy management in China at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The successful candidate will conduct research primarily under the supervision of Prof. Xingchi Shen (www.xingchishen.com) and become part of a vibrant academic community spanning the School of International and Public Affairs, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and the China-UK Low Carbon College.
Requirements:
- D. in Public Policy, Economics, Management Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field, ideally with specialization in energy/environmental policy.
- Promising publication record.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
- Outstanding econometric skills are essential. Preferably has proficiency in coding and data analysis tools such as Stata, Python, R.
- Experience in research project management is a plus.
Project Description
The research agenda integrates technology–economics–policy frameworks and combines empirical studies in the Yangtze River Delta region with various quantitative methods. Key topics include drivers of distributed low-carbon technology adoption, spatial optimization, digital technologies for home energy management, and inclusive (“just”) energy transition policies. Methodologically, the project employs randomized controlled trials (RCTs), data analytics, surveys, system modeling, and policy simulation, aiming to produce policy-relevant academic research and practical policy tools.
