The University of Reading is recruiting a Post-doctoral Research Associate into Just Energy Transitions. JUST-Systems is a £5.6 million research programme, funded by the UKRI call ‘Systems approaches to advance the UK’s transition to net zero’.
As a postdoctoral fellow, you will join an inclusive environment supporting career development, management and transdisciplinary training on Just Transitions and systems approaches. We recognise the role of Early Career Researchers (ECR) in creating and sustaining a healthy, diverse, and dynamic research environment that will be vital in contributing to the success of the project.
The advertised position is for the Reading case study. The research will focus primarily on initiatives to expand heat networks in the Reading area. The research will be primarily qualitative, using multiple methods aimed at the development and evaluation of scalable solutions. There will also be opportunities to work with colleagues involved in quantitative and policy analysis, with the aim of developing a holistic systems approach.
The PDRA will work closely with Reading project leads. These include Dr Martin Green, Dr Mehdi Shahrestani, Prof. Libby Schweber and Prof. Stefan Smith.
The post will require the field work to be conducted in the Reading area. The position will also involve travel within the UK including the annual science meetings, training events and key engagements such as policy engagement and expert workshops.
