If you are interested in how postgrowth / degrowth / ecological economics and heterodox economicsintersect with health economics, ageing and longevity, check out this funded PhD scholarship for international students from all nations in my team here at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania in Hobart.
This is for you if you are interested in how we can maintain access to good health and social care for Australians (and people in other countries) in a world of growing economic and ecological turmoil and uncertainty. You might have a background in one of several relevant disciplines (e.g. economics, demography, health services, human geography, social policy, sociology, aged care, geriatrics), and you will be prepared to do some heavy lifting to learn quantitative economic and statistical analytical skills. You will get the most out of this scholarship (and be best placed to be selected for it) if you can demonstrate that you are already closely engaged with questions of postgrowth and degrowth economics.
You will receive a fees offset (i.e. fee-free study) for up to four years and a living allowance stipend for 3.5 years (with the possibility to apply for top-up allowances following successful confirmation of candidature), and be based in Hobart, the beautiful and vibrant capital of Australia’s southernmost island state, Tasmania. Please reach out to me if you would like to discuss this opportunity and your potential suitability for it: Martin Hensher email: m.c.hensher@utas.edu.au
