Are you interested in exploring how violence against nature is simultaneously violence against people in the Latin American/ Caribbean region?
Then this fully funded PhD opportunity in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University, the Netherlands, might be for you.
Be aware, language skills and extensive experience with the proposed research context are a must!!! Research contexts does not need necessarily be the exact location you propose but if you propose to work in Latin American peripheries we need to see you can navigate those contexts, for example, and not just having been a tourist so far. Only apply if you can fulfil the essential criteria and if possible the desirable ones.
For this position we are looking for a curious and independent mind who will develop their own project under the themes of (slow) violence, decolonial ecologies and gender. In particularly we are interested at exploring the following questions: “What forms of ecological violence exist?”, “How does this violence affect women and/or other minoritised bodies?”, “How do the affected people resist violence with everyday practices of mutual care and repair?” And “In what creative ways do they shape alternative futures for themselves and their more-than-human environment?”

You will be doing prolonged fieldwork, in your proposal please also think about how to do this with limited financial resources.
