We would like to welcome the new co-editors for Spatial Economic Analysis, a pioneering economics journal dedicated to the development of theory and methods in spatial economics, published by RSA and the RSAI-BIS.

Alex Shuai Shi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Real Estate and Construction of the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR; Deputy Director of the surveying undergraduate program; Fellow of HKU Urban System Institute and Real Estate Lab. He also holds an HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall visiting fellowship. As an urban economist, his research aims to disentangle the complexity of the urban economic system from three interwoven theoretical aspects: Who are the productive actors to sustain urban economic growth? (with a particular focus on startups and innovators); What can cities provide to enhance the welfare of productive actors? (with a particular focus on the role of housing markets and informal institutions); How are these productive actors interconnected over space to access external resources, ultimately resulting in regional disparity? (with a particular focus on investment and migration flows). He has led several research grants funded by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Hong Kong Chief Executive’s Policy Unit.

Orsa Kekezi is a researcher at the Swedish Institute for Social Research at Stockholm University and an assistant professor at Jönköping International Business School. Her research explores how regional and urban structures shape labor market outcomes, inequality, innovation, entrepreneurship, and political dynamics. She works at the intersection of labor economics and economic geography, often in collaboration with scholars from related fields.

Dr. Danlin Yu is a Professor of GIS and Urban Geography at Montclair State University. As a quantitative geographer and spatial data scientist, his research integrates geographic information systems (GIS), spatial econometrics, and complex system modeling to explore urban and regional development. He is a co-author of the widely used spgwr R package for geographically weighted regression analysis. His recent work applies these spatial methodologies to critical issues in public health and environmental justice, including tobacco control, lead exposure bioaccessibility, and urban epidemiology. In addition to his new role as Co-Editor of Spatial Economic Analysis, Dr. Yu serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Urban Planning and Development and as an Academic Editor for Remote Sensing and Humanity and Social Sciences Communications.
