The Regional Studies Association (RSA) 60th Anniversary Commemorative Session in Brazil took place during the XXX Regional Economics Meeting, organised by the National Association of Graduate Centres in Economics (ANPEC) in Aracaju, Brazil. The event aimed to mobilise both the academic and policy communities around pressing issues related to regional development and brought together a diverse audience, particularly scholars and experts focused on regional development studies.
The RSA special session was part of the main program and was held on September 5th at 9:00 AM (BRT). The session featured Fernanda Faria Silva, RSA Ambassador for Brazil, who presented the Association’s mission, activities, and history to the audience. Following her remarks, the session hosted a keynote speech delivered by Professor Marco Crocco (UFMG), the first RSA Ambassador for Brazil and currently the Patron of RSA’s Latin America Division.
The event attracted approximately 130 participants, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening the engagement of the Brazilian academic community with the RSA’s global network. It was publicised through multiple channels, including the Instagram account of the RSA Territorial Representation in Brazil, as well as by ANPEC and the host university, which contributed to the session’s broad visibility and outreach.
