On 9th September 2025, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ), Rajasthan, India, hosted a guest lecture and workshop titled “From Blogs to Papers: Building Skills for Ethical and Engaged Writing.” The session was delivered by Ms Lavanya Gupta, Blog Editor at the Regional Studies Association (RSA), and drew over 65 participants, including undergraduates, master’s students, PhD scholars, and faculty from the Departments of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Psychology, and Mass Communication.
Held in two sessions, one with undergraduate students and another with postgraduates and PhD scholars, the workshop combined practical exercises with guided discussions. Participants explored what makes a strong blog, common pitfalls to avoid, and how blogs differ from journal articles while still demanding evidence, clarity, and ethical writing. They also received step-by-step guidance on structuring arguments, maintaining academic rigour, and engaging diverse audiences.
Students responded enthusiastically to the interactive approach:
“The session was very engaging and practical. I especially liked learning about the RSA Blog platform, which feels student-friendly and encouraging for young writers like us to express and publish our work,” shared Chahat Yadav, a Liberal Arts student.
Faculty members emphasised the value of connecting students to international platforms. Assistant Professor Dr Sumit Kumar observed that the workshop provided:
“hands-on training on blog writing and academic communication, while the introduction to platforms like the RSA Blog opened new avenues for students to showcase their ideas globally.”
Dr Richa, Head of the Department of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, added that the session:
“perfectly aligned with our vision by blending creativity, academic rigour, and global opportunities in writing.”
The event highlighted how ethical and accessible forms of academic writing, such as blogs, can bridge classrooms with global conversations, offering students and researchers a pathway to share their ideas more widely.
