The Regional Studies Association is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Awards, recognising outstanding contributions in regional studies and related fields. We welcome both self-nominations and third-party nominations from current RSA members.
Award Categories
- Nathaniel Lichfield Recent Master’s Award
For graduates who completed a Master’s degree within the past year. - Paul Benneworth PhD Student Award
For currently registered PhD students who have not yet received their PhD certificate. This award honours the legacy of Paul Benneworth and his dedication to supporting early career scholars. - RSA Routledge Early Career Award
For researchers within five years of receiving their PhD (or equivalent), recognising early career excellence and innovation.
What We’re Looking For
Nominees should demonstrate an original and outstanding contribution to regional research. We welcome diverse methodologies from quantitative to qualitative and work that bridges academia, policy, and practice.
Submissions may include comparative research, interdisciplinary approaches, and work that contributes to shaping future research agendas.
Submission Requirements
- A fully referenced piece of work in English aligned with RSA’s research themes.
- If the work is co-authored, a cover letter must explain the nominee’s individual contribution, research trajectory, and agenda-setting role.
- Either the nominator or nominee must be a current RSA member. Award recipients must hold active RSA membership.
Award Prizes
Each award includes:
- £500
- A certificate of recognition
If an award is shared, the prize will be divided equally among recipients.
