Vacancy: Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc), ethnographic research on migration in West Africa
The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) invites applications for a three-year, full-time position within the project Future Migration as Present Fact (FUMI), funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and led by Research Professor Jørgen Carling (PhD, Human Geography). The position provides the opportunity to work in a leading international research institution with an interdisciplinary environment and involves substantial ethnographic research in West Africa.
The project team will address the following research question: How does migration that has not yet taken place shape the lives of individuals and the development of societies?
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
· A PhD in a relevant field in social sciences or humanities.
· Qualifications for conducting fieldwork in either Gambia or Guinea, including relevant language skills.
· Substantial experience with ethnographic fieldwork or related qualitative research methods.
· Excellent analytical and writing skills.
