We are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work within the Centre for Population Change (CPC) on the Understanding Migration and Mobility theme, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The post will be part of the St Andrews team of CPC, and part of the broader Centre for Population Change which is a collaboration between the Universities of Southampton, St Andrews and Stirling (see www.cpc.ac.uk). The Research Fellow will be based in the CPC at the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, which hosts several projects on migration, health and fertility including those funded by the ESRC, ERC and GCRF.
The CPC migration team in St Andrews conducts three projects: a) residential mobility (led by Dr Nissa Finney); international students’ mobility (Dr David McCollum); and c) the impact of Brexit on the UK’s population (Prof Hill Kulu). There will be opportunity for comparative work in Sweden and The Netherlands.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and dedicated researcher to work in an international team of researchers on a highly relevant topic. The Research Fellow will have responsibility for research design, data work, project collaborations and writing for publication in leading international social science journals. They will also contribute to CPC workshops/events and will be responsible for the design and update of the project webpage. The candidates should have (submitted for) a PhD in a social science discipline (including Geography, Population Studies, Migration Studies, Urban Studies, Sociology, Social Statistics) and expertise in quantitative secondary data analysis. Qualitative research experience is desirable. Good communication and management skills are essential.
The post is available from March 2020 for 24 months (up to 3 March 2022) (with the possibility of extension to two years).
