This 17-month appointment will involve working with a team of researchers to analyse the future role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Law and Accounting firms, specifically in medium-sized firms in these sectors. The project will be conducted in conjunction with the Managing Partners Forum. The focus of the project is on the institutional, organizational and managerial issues associated with the adoption of AI. The project seeks to explore these issues through collaborative design, rooted in ‘Design Thinking’. The disciplines represented in the team of investigators include design, geography, entrepreneurship, innovation studies, operations management and organization studies. As such, this is not a project about the technical specifics of AI but a project about the future organizational role and implications of AI.

You will have completed a PhD in a relevant area of business and management (or cognate discipline) such as Technology & Organisation, Work or Organisational Sociology, and/or in the domains of law and/or accounting. The ability to design research using and gain access for collecting primary (interview and focus group) and secondary data is essential.

Please contact James Faulconbridge (j.faulconbridge@lancaster.ac.uk) and Martin Spring (m.spring@lancaster.ac.uk) for more information about the project and for an informal discussion about the post.
