Postdoctoral Researcher (100%)
The Collaborative Research Center CRC-TRR 228 “Future Rural Africa. Future-making and social-ecological transformation” combines expertise from the two Universities of Bonn and Cologne to study newly emerging issues of social-ecological transformation and future-making in Africa. The project C02 explores visions, knowledge production and strategic planning practices related to the Kenyan energy transition.
Conducting empirical research on geothermal development in Kenya and energy systems and strategies in Kenya and other East-African countries.
Development of the conceptual and methodological framework on energy transitions in the Global South
Publications in Scientific Journals
A PhD in Economic Geography or a related field
Empirical research experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably in the field of energy research
Lead-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Ability and willingness to travel independently for extended periods of time (field-work in Kenya and other places)
Good knowledge of interview and other qualitative as well as quantitative methodologies
