The Research Fellow will take a leading role in the Housing and Welfare Policy strand of the Centre on the Dynamics of Ethnicity, led by Dr Nissa Finney (St Andrews), with Dr Sharon Leahy (St Andrews), Dr James Rhodes (Manchester) and Professor Nasar Meer (Edinburgh). The research will examine how housing provision is enacted and experienced differentially across places and minority and migrant groups. The project will examine the multi-scalar nature of welfare governance at a time of state rescaling and devolved government; and will identify how best to respond to housing inequalities. The Research Fellow on this project (together with a Research Fellow based at the University of Manchester) will undertake fieldwork in Glasgow and/or Manchester with residents and housing providers. They will analyse collected data, lead in presentation of articles for publication and contribute to the delivery of our impact plan.
The candidate should have a PhD in a social science or closely related discipline, experience in collecting and handling qualitative field data and conducting analysis. Good communication and management skills are essential. The post is available until August 2022, to start as soon as possible.
