Brief Description:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will focus on issues of governance, management, budget and finance, and operations related to water desalination and water reuse in the United States, Israel, and Australia. Deliverables include developing desalination and wastewater reuse profiles for select cases that describe the diverse technology pathways, private sector investment, local community and civic participation, approaches to integrate ideas and practices of sustainability with local environmental systems, infrastructure financing, and long term fiscal sustainability. Methods may include secondary source research, key actor interviews, field visits, social network analysis, and survey implementation.In addition to pursuing data collection, the researcher will collaborate with PIs and other research team members in various ways, such as compiling literature reviews, analyzing data, and co-authoring publications.

This is a 12 month term position for a year with a possibility of reappointment for a second year.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in a social science discipline or related field.  Alternative degree fields that link to substantive policy areas listed above may be acceptable with demonstrated ability to link to policy issues and application of appropriate research methods – If the degree had not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school’s official Graduate Office and/or Registrar’s Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The successful candidate must be willing and able to work in a collaborative, team-based, multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of statistical research methods and analysis of data using a variety of multivariate and multilevel techniques
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in preparation of scholarly publications, presentations, and research reports based on appropriate application of theories and analysis of the research data
  • Maintain research records and databases
  • Contribute to the design of the research including stakeholder identification and survey development
  • As needed, assist in data collection and maintain research records
  • Performs other duties as assigned
