Please find an advert at the link below for a salaried PhD opportunity in the Department of Geography, University of Bergen, with a focus on nutrition and small fish consumption in northern Uganda. This is an explicitly interdisciplinary/cross-faculty position, but I am told folks with a social science or STS take on these issues would be most welcome to apply.
Collaborating institutions in Uganda for this project include the Uganda National Agricultural Research Laboratories and the Department of Zoology, Entomology and Fisheries Sciences, Makerere University.
The successful candidate will be employed under the civil service framework regulating salary and benefits, including public healthcare coverage, paid holidays, and enrolment in the Norwegian public service pension fund. The salary is quite internationally competitive at 479,600 NOK per year (around 46,500 USD at the currently somewhat volatile exchange rate).
Please do forward the advert if you happen to know of any potentially interested candidates! Questions can be addressed to Professor Ragnhild Overå (Ragnhild.Overa@uib.no) in the Department of Geography.
The application deadline is 20 August 2020.
