Fully-funded position (4 years, UK home students only) with Ioan Fazey and Mark Vellend, supported by the Leverhulme Foundation through the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity, titled “Philanthropy for Biodiversity: A Critical Exploration of Drivers, Processes, and Impacts”.
You’ll be based at the Department of Environment & Geography, University of York.
In this PhD, you’ll investigate the mechanisms underpinning philanthropic endowment investment, and deep dive into how philanthropy can best support biodiversity gain and resilience through a combination of its mission and investment arms. This PhD is a fantastic opportunity to work with an international, interdisciplinary team at the University of York and Université de Sherbrooke, across departments of environment & geography, biology, and society & business. You’ll be engaging with industry partners and regulatory stakeholders throughout the programme, opening up career opportunities in academia, sustainable finance, and philanthropy.
