About the Role
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning seeks to appoint an outstanding academic in Transport Planning. The Lecturer in Transport Planning will have the ability to collaborate in the areas of urban design and sustainable development. The successful candidate will have a proven capability to make a significant contribution to teaching, research, public engagement, and knowledge exchange. Their academic qualifications will be demonstrated through a strong record in learning, teaching and research, with an emphasis on international dissemination of research findings and/or locally grounded knowledge.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Academic staff are expected to contribute to the teaching effort of the Faculty and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly research and professional activities relevant to their profession or discipline as follows:
- Initiate and develop high quality subjects and related materials within curriculum framework of undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Successfully prepare and deliver quality lectures, studios, seminars and tutorials at undergraduate and graduate levels including engagement in teaching innovation and improvement
- Undertake subject coordination and administrative tasks associated with the subjects taught
- Advise and consult with students and provide marking and assessment as appropriate
Who We Are Looking For
The successful applicant will bring to the role an established substantive research specialisation in this field and demonstrate a high level of research performance and promise relative to the level of appointment.
You will also have:
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact with University staff at all levels and to build networks with industry and researchers both local and international.
- PhD or equivalent in Urban Planning or appropriate field
- Demonstrated teaching experience and skills appropriate for undergraduate and graduate content delivery
- Demonstrated capacity to successfully deliver teaching and learning at university level, including the development of courses in Urban Planning, and research higher degree supervision
- Research excellence commensurate with opportunity as demonstrated by a record of quality refereed research outputs and / or industry consulting or collaborations, with demonstrated capacity to lead research in in the area of transport planning commensurate with opportunity

The Faculty’s graduate school, the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), teaches accredited masters courses across the professional disciplines of Architecture, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban Design and Urban Planning.
