The School

The School of Geography and Planning is a centre for research in the areas of human geography, planning, urban design and spatial analysis.

We have a diverse portfolio of research covering economic, social, political and cultural change and the built and natural environments.

Our research activity has a high impact in shaping relevant policy debates and influencing international agendas. Through these research efforts, we play an internationally leading role in research and academic inquiry associated with the development, management and sustainability of cities, regions and rural spaces.

While many research projects focus on the UK, our staff also carry out research, consultancy and teaching in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, India, China, Malaysia, Japan, South Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere.

The Role

The School of Geography and Planning invites applications for a Lectureship in Human Geography / Planning with a specialism in urban design. The candidate will have a background in urban design or design-based planning. They will have an established research expertise and developing portfolio of research in one or both of these areas and be able to contribute to the overall research performance of the School. They will also have a proven ability to contribute to teaching on urban design and / or design-based planning, and the ability to teach in the area of community-based planning.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), for a fixed term of 18 months.
