We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Human Geography. The starting date is 1st of April 2022. We seek to appoint a researcher with a designated profile in human geography. The position expects a contribution to social-, cultural, and / or economic geographic perspectives on spatial dynamics of digitalization, potentially including a focus on regional structural change. Furthermore we expect the successful applicant to contribute to the development and application of digital methods in various human-geographic sub-disciplines. The professorship will be integrated in the curriculum of the bachelor and master study Geography programs and should set methodological impulses in digital data collection, data evaluation, and data analyses. Successful applicants should be willing to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within their own faculty, with other faculties, the Profile Areas of RWTH Aachen University as well as the Geoverbund ABC/J.
You should have a completed university degree and a special aptitude for scientific work which is generally verified by means of an outstanding doctorate. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within 5 years.
Excellent language skills in English are expected as well as first publication experiences in international peer-reviewed journals. The position is supposed to be tenured after a successful interim evaluation of the W1 professorship as well as a second evaluation of at the end of the junior professorship.
