Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), University of Trento, Italy:
The Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento, Italy (https://www.sociologia.unitn.it/en), seeks to fill three Assistant Professorship Positions (Tenure Track) in the following areas (deadline: September 29th, 2023):
– Life course analysis –> link
– Collection and analysis of narrative data, such as those deriving from interviews, focus groups, visual or textual documents –> link
– African Studies, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa –> link
These positions can be converted into Associate Professorships (tenured) after three years and come with generous seed money to develop own projects and research.
We are interested in applications from highly motivated scholars with an excellent research record in the respective area. An international outlook, proven interest in research methodology and a record in fund-raising are definitely pluses. Candidates have at least three years of experience as post-doc or an Italian national habilitation (ASN).
Salary starts from about 47.891 euro gross and foreign residents and Italians who live abroad migh benefit from an almost complete tax exemption for 5 to 10+ years.
The positions imply teaching in the Department’s programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, and institutional duties. The overall teaching load is 120 hours per year. Candidates are expected to be present in Trento on a permanent basis. They should have good teaching and interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. In addition to a full command of the English language, candidates will be expected to be able to teach in Italian within a reasonable time-frame.
The Department of Sociology and Social Research (DSRS) offers a vibrant research community. It is the oldest and most-established sociology department in Italy, ranked among the top social science departments in the country. DSRS is classified in the 100-151 bracket by Q&S World University Ranking. It offers BA and MA programs, both in sociology and political sciences and a Ph.D. program in Sociology and social research.
