Please consider spreading this call for six 3-year postdocs in Germany. Several of the positions are connected to critical geography and we are many geographers here at Helmholtz-Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) in Marine Political Ecology and Marine Governance research groups. These are also interdisciplinary positions, so open very broadly to a variety of training.
HIFMB Integrative Postdoc Pool (HIPP): Call 2023
https://hifmb.de/news/jobs/
In order to advance early career development and to bring in novel perspectives into the institute, HIFMB has created an integrative postdoc pool, HIPP, that offers postdoctoral scientists the opportunity to develop their own research ideas and to actively shape their scientific careers.
For this call, HIFMB is announcing an exciting, cross‐disciplinary cohort project “The Great Poleward Shift” with scholars from humanities, social and natural sciences together considering how climate change affects ecosystems and global biodiversity. The cohort will investigate marine communities on the move and evaluate the consequences of those movements for nature and people through varying disciplinary approaches including: marine ecologists, (more‐than) human geographers, computer scientists, science and technology scholars, mathematical modellers, and biologists. Within this cohort project, HIFMB offers
- 6 PostDoc positions
- Salary level: E13 TVöD (100%), 3 year fixed term
- from 1.1.2023 to 31.12.2025, Oldenburg/ Germany
We seek to hire a strong team of researchers, open and enthusiastic to interdisciplinary working, who will address the overarching question of ‘the great poleward shift’ in collaboration with the HIFMB community on the following projects:
- The politics of diversity knowledge to understand change (HIPP Pos #1)
- Shapes and sequences: Accurate characterizations of metazoan diversity in changing ecosystems (HIPP Pos #2)
- Borders, boundaries, zones: The emergence and construction of space (HIPP Pos #3a)
- Borders, boundaries, zones: The emergence and construction of space (HIPP Pos #3b)
- Reshuffling food webs (HIPP Pos #4)
- Baselines and Biofutures (HIPP Pos #5)
The HIPP is explicitly meant to foster networking between marine institutions. We therefore appreciate if candidates bring in additional advisors from institutions outside of HIFMB.
If you have any questions about your eligibility or the application procedure, please feel free to contact Ruth Krause. If you have content‐related questions, please contact the advisor mentioned in the job advert.
The deadline for application is August 15th, 2022. Interviews are planned for the last week in September 2022, in Oldenburg or online.
