Plenary Session 3: Culture, Creativity and Technology - Professor Henrik Halkier
Henrik Halkier’s research experience is primarily related to the role of institutions, discourse and public policy in tourism and regional development. Current research focuses on food tourism, destination management organisations, path dependency and plasticity in destination development, and combinatorial knowledge dynamics.
Major collaborative projects have included participation in the Leonardo project Intelligent Region, a project on partnership in regional development sponsored by Nordregio, ongoing work in conjunction with Strathclyde University's European Policies Research Centre on regional policy in Europe, including structural funds programmes.
Recently contributor to OECD review of innovation in two Danish regions, and involved as a core member of the team behind EURODITE, an integrated project sponsored by the European 6th Framework Programme in which he had responsibility for tourism-related research within the project, as well as conducting a major survey of regional policy and knowledge processes throughout the EU. Currently involved in running research networks on Tourism and Regional Development for Regional Studies Association, and establishing a European network on Taste of Place.
