Plenary Session 1: Regional Studies vs. Today’s Challenges - Professor Ron Boschma
Since January 2013, Ron Boschma is Full Professor in Innovation Studies at Lund University in Sweden, and director of the Centre for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy (CIRCLE) at Lund University. He is also Full Professor in Regional Economics at the Department of Economic Geography at the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Utrecht. His scientific work concentrates on working out conceptually and empirically Evolutionary Economic Geography. In 2013, Ron Boschma received a Honorary Doctorate from Marburg University in Germany. Boschma has widely published in international journals on Evolutionary Economic Geography, the spatial evolution of industries, geography of innovation, the structure and evolution of networks, agglomeration externalities, regional diversification and regional growth. Boschma was Deputy Chief Editor of Regional Studies 2008-2013, and he is member of the Editorial Boards of Economic Geography and Review of Regional Research (Jahrbuch für Regionalwissenschaft), and Editor of the working paper series Papers in Evolutionary Economic Geography.
